I think you may want to use a better IDE for ASP.NET development rather than just WebMatrix. I have found (as have many other users of the tool) that it is poor at best.
The obvious problem with WebMatrix is that it won’t compile your code to a file unless you do so manually. The only way to get it to work would be to add WebMatrix to your project. This won’t work at all if you are working remotely. In my limited experience it’s also very crash prone.
I have found that the free version of Visual Studio Express is a much better product that will give you everything you need to develop ASP.NET projects.
It does take a little time to learn, but really it’s not that hard and you can get a lot of things out of it that WebMatrix will never allow you to do.
